Smallwood Primary School Street
A School Street has been introduced in June 2023 on Hazelhurst Road and Smallwood Road between Pevensey Road and Thurso Street.
Operating hours
Monday to Friday from 8.15 to 9am and 3 to 3.45pm, term time only.
During the operating times people walking, scooting, using wheelchairs, mobility scooters and cycles (including adapted cycles) will be able to enter the School Street.
Motor vehicles are prohibited during the operating times, subject to a limited number of exemptions.
How it works
- Signs notify drivers of the days and times when the School Street is enforced
- Retractable barriers are currently being used to reinforce the School Street restrictions

There is a statutory sixth month period following implementation in which anyone may comment in writing and this feedback will help us determine whether or not the scheme should be kept, amended or withdrawn.

The School Street serving Smallwood Primary School was introduced using an experimental traffic order following consultation and engagement in February 2023.
