Types of parking bay suspension

In certain circumstances, parking spaces may be suspended to allow for:

  • Domestic removals
  • Weddings
  • Funerals
  • Special events (The Boat Race, Wimbledon Tennis)
  • Mobile Plant (crane, concrete pump, cherry picker etc)
  • Filming (application must be made via the Film office)
  • Road works
  • Mobile workshops
  • Access to sites (subject to Council approval)

We will try to suspend the most convenient bay and will only suspend motorcycle bays, disabled bays, car club bays or electric car bays if there are no other alternatives or we are required to suspend for essential works.

We must approve parking bay suspensions. In some cases, the police approve the suspension.

All suspensions are monitored by our enforcement contractor and any obstructing vehicles will receive penalty charge notices and be relocated where possible. Signage will be erected prior to the suspension, however we are unable to provide any guarantees that the area will be kept clear.

Please call 020 8871 8871 Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm, or 0330 008 6862 on Saturday to report any obstructing vehicles. Please note that vehicle removals can only take place if reported between 8am and 3pm. We will not issue refunds on any suspensions which have been correctly signposted, and where the suspended bays were blocked by other motorists, skips, materials etc.

We cannot suspend areas where there are no parking restrictions. View parking bay suspension exclusions

If lorries and trailers are required to be left outside a property overnight, call 020 8871 8871 to obtain the relevant permissions.

Filming applications

Contact the Wandsworth Film Office before applying.

We advise film companies to give as much prior notice as possible to enable us to liaise with all relevant departments before approving your request. Large filming shoots requiring numerous bays to be suspended will require particular consideration.

We may also require that residents and motorists are informed by letter of the suspension request.
