This winter, Wandsworth residents will have access to a borough-wide network of warm, welcoming Community Spaces during the colder months, with a hot drink, friendly chat with neighbours, and easy access to council services.

From 1 December, the council is opening up its council buildings and community-run venues to residents across the borough. Interested residents are welcomed to meet their community, enjoy light refreshments, and in some venues, share a meal. Most services are completely free for Wandsworth residents.
Battersea resident, Sandra, has used Community Spaces in previous years and has found them incredibly beneficial for her and her family. “I most enjoyed socialising with others and the support around mental health. The kids have done a lot of activities within the community hub. It’s a reason to come out of the house even when things are hard. The staff are really kind and understanding.’’
Another resident added: “The best thing about this Community Space is the different people I meet.’’

Cabinet Member for Finance, Angela Ireland, said:
“Community spaces are more than warm spaces for residents to come during the colder months. They’re about staying connected with your community, from having a friendly chat with neighbours over a cup of tea and biscuits to getting involved in an activity at your local library.
“We know winter can be a challenging time for many, and these hubs offer a vital way for people to come together and support each other.”
