Health and Wellbeing Board plans and strategies
The Health and Wellbeing Board are required to produce several plans and strategies to improve our residents’ health and wellbeing. Explore how the Board is addressing some of our largest health challenges.
JSNA
A Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) is a detailed study performed by local authorities and health organisations to understand the health and social care needs of a community. It looks at things like population data, health trends and service use to identify what services are needed and where. The results of this study help us in planning and delivering the services that are needed most.

Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy
Based on the needs identified in the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA), the Joint Local Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2024 - 2029 lays out the priorities of the Wandsworth Health and Wellbeing Board.

Health and Care Plan
The Wandsworth Health & Care Plan 2025-2027 outlines the vision, priorities and actions to meet the health and care needs of local people, as well as to deliver improvements in their health and wellbeing throughout the course of life stages, categorised as; Start well, Live well and Age well. It is the two-year delivery plan linked to the Wandsworth Joint Local Health & Wellbeing Strategy (JLHWS) 2024-2029.
This refreshed plan is an updated version of the Wandsworth Health & Care Plan 2022-24. Health, social care, public health, voluntary, community organisations and residents across Wandsworth have helped to develop the plan, building on the positive achievements from the 2022-24 plan. The 2025-27 plan is very much a continuation of preceding initiatives, building those foundations and adapting to the current needs of the local population.
The plan represents; an ongoing shared commitment to working together, focusing on where we can add value and have the greatest impact. We share the responsibility to work collaboratively as part of an Integrated Care.
The refresh of the plan will be an iterative process and will change to align with system priorities. The plan reflects a more output focussed approach. Progress is being reviewed monthly at our Wandsworth Health & Care Partnership meeting and the Wandsworth Health & Wellbeing Board.

Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment
The Board also has a particular responsibility to develop a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment. This helps determine the number and location of community pharmacies in the borough.
Better Care Fund
The Better Care Fund (BCF) is one of the government’s national vehicles for driving health and social care integration. It requires the Integrated Care Board (ICB) and local authority to agree a joint plan, owned by the Health and Wellbeing Board (HWB). These are joint plans for using pooled budgets to support integration, governed by an agreement under section 75 of the NHS Act (2006).
