Implementation process and phases
Phase 1
The following School Streets were developed in Phase 1. Further information on each School Street is available via the links in the table below.

The schemes were approved to be trialled (Paper no. 19-158) and following a review of feedback and operation, were approved to be made permanent (Paper no. 21-236) at the Strategic Planning and Transportation Overview and Scrutiny Committee.

Phase 2
The following School Streets were developed in Phase 2. These schemes were accelerated in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the increased demand for safer spaces to support the return to school, as reported to the Strategic Planning and Transportation Overview and Scrutiny Committee (Paper no. 20 -169 and Paper no. 20-291). Feedback and operation of these schemes was reviewed by the Strategic Planning and Transportation Overview and Scrutiny Committee and they were approved to be made permanent (Paper no. 21-236).
Phase 3
The following School Streets were developed in Phase 3. Further information on each School Street is available via the links in the table below.

Phase 4

Proposals for Swaffield Primary, Ark John Archer and Finton House are not being progressed at this stage.
Phase 5
The following School Streets were developed in Phase 5. Further information on each School Street is available in the table.

The schemes were launched as trials under an experimental traffic order. Consultations have been reopened for six months allowing representation to be made while the scheme is live. The schemes will be monitored and reported to the Transport Committee and a decision will be made on whether to make the School Streets permanent, remove it or make amendments.
Planned schemes to serve Oasis Academy and Hornsby House School are currently suspended. Proposals for St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and Swaffield Primary are not being progressed at this stage.
Phase 6
The following School Streets were developed in Phase 6. Further information on each School Street is available in the table.

The schemes were launched as trials under an experimental traffic order. Consultations have been reopened for six months allowing representation to be made while the scheme is live.
The schemes will be monitored and reported to the Transport Committee and a decision will be made on whether to make the School Streets permanent, remove it or make amendments.
Phase 7
The public consultation for St Cecilia's School has now closed. Once all responses have been formally collated and shared by the consultation team, officers will begin a detailed analysis of the feedback received. We have received a relatively high number of comments, so this process is expected to take a few weeks to complete.
Following the analysis, an officer recommendation will be prepared for the Cabinet Member for Transport on how to proceed.
Please note, a School Street trial would only be recommended and taken forward if the consultation has demonstrated that there is sufficient support from local residents, alongside the views of the school community and other stakeholders/respondents. If the consultation does not demonstrate local support for the scheme, then a recommendation to proceed to a trial would not be made, as we only implement School Streets when these have local support.
