Abermarle Primary School Street
A School Street has been in operation since June 2020 on Princes Way between Albert Drive and Weydown Close. The scheme was extended in September 2025 to include Albert Drive (between Princes Way to Ambleside).

Operating hours
Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 9.30am and 2.45 to 3.45pm, term time only.
During the operating times people walking, scooting, using wheelchairs, mobility scooters and cycles (including adapted cycles) will be able to enter the School Street.
Motor vehicles are prohibited during the operating times, subject to a limited number of exemptions.
How it works
- Signs notify drivers of the days and times when the School Street is enforced
- The original zone on Princes Way (between Albert Drive and Weydown Close) is enforced by retractable barriers and ANPR cameras
- The extended zone on Albert Drive (between Princes Way and Ambleside) is enforced by signage only so residents’ exemptions are not required

Summary of the consultation results for Phase 2 School Streets
In September 2021, the Strategic Planning and Transportation Overview and Scrutiny Committee approved making the School Street permanent (Paper no. 21-236).
