Wandsworth Moves Together Awards

The Wandsworth Moves Together Awards recognise talented local sports performers, coaches, volunteers, teams and clubs for their exceptional achievements in 2025.

Eligibility

Nominees must:

  • Reside in Wandsworth, or
  • Attend a school in the borough, or
  • Be a member of a sports clubs or physical activity session based in Wandsworth

All achievements must have taken place between 1 January and 31 December 2025.

Award categories

There are 10 award categories. Each has associated criteria which must be met for the nominee to be shortlisted.

Club/Organisation of the Year

This award recognises a club or organisation that has encouraged more people to take part in sport or physical activity, improved skills and performance, and made activities more accessible to the local community.

  1. Encouraged more people to participate and improve their skills and performance in 2025.
  2. Used innovative ideas, facilities or technology to make activities accessible to the whole community, including underrepresented groups.
  3. Worked with partners such as schools, governing bodies or community groups and demonstrated the impact of these partnerships.

The Mayor's Award

This award recognises an individual, organisation or project that has increased opportunities for disabled people in Wandsworth to participate in sport or physical activity.

  1. Encouraged more disabled people to take part in sport or physical activity.
  2. Worked in partnership with others to increase opportunities.
  3. Demonstrated qualities that set them apart from others.

Volunteer of the Year

This award recognises the contribution a volunteer has made to their chosen sport or activity during 2025.

  1. Undertook volunteer roles during 2025 and demonstrated commitment through time given.
  2. Encouraged more people to take part and made a positive impact.
  3. Demonstrated qualities that set them apart from other volunteers.

Outstanding Contribution to Sport / Physical Activity

This award recognises someone who has made an exceptional voluntary contribution to sport and physical activity in Wandsworth over a minimum of five years.

  1. Demonstrated a long-term commitment to a club, group or organisation.
  2. Provided examples of their dedication to sport or physical activity.
  3. Made a significant and lasting impact.
  4. Overcame barriers to create or maintain opportunities for others.

Active Communities Award

This award recognises projects, organisations or initiatives that have increased physical activity, improved health and wellbeing, reduced inequalities and made activity more accessible across Wandsworth.

  1. Helped people overcome barriers to participation and supported diverse communities and disabled people.
  2. Created opportunities for inactive people to become and remain active.
  3. Built strong community partnerships and sustainable programmes.
  4. Helped residents from Wandsworth's most deprived communities become more active.

Young Volunteer of the Year

This award recognises an outstanding volunteer aged under 21 who has made a positive contribution to their chosen sport or activity during 2025.

  1. Undertook volunteer roles during 2025 and demonstrated commitment through time given.
  2. Encouraged more people to participate and made a positive impact.
  3. Demonstrated qualities that set them apart from other volunteers.

Active School of the Year

This award recognises schools and colleges that have successfully encouraged children and young people to be active and develop healthy lifestyles.

  1. Used creative approaches to increase participation in physical activity and sport.
  2. Had a positive impact on health and wellbeing.
  3. Increased participation among underrepresented groups.
  4. Embedded physical activity into daily routines for previously inactive young people.

Coach/Instructor of the Year

This award recognises a coach or instructor who has inspired participation, embraced innovation and achieved outstanding results during 2025.

  1. Inspired others to progress and increased participation.
  2. Used innovative coaching methods or technology to improve outcomes.
  3. Demonstrated achievements that set them apart from other coaches and instructors.

Junior Sports Person of the Year

This award recognises a young athlete aged 17 or under who has achieved significant success and development in their sport during 2025.

  1. Achieved significant sporting success, including notable results or rankings.
  2. Made significant progress in their sport over the previous 12 months.

Sports Person of the Year

This award recognises an athlete aged 18 or over who has achieved significant success and development in their sport during 2025.

  1. Achieved significant sporting success, including notable results or rankings.
  2. Made significant progress in their sport over the previous 12 months.

Key dates

  • Nominations open - Monday 3 August 2026
  • Nominations close - Friday 4 September 2026
  • Shortlisting - Week commencing Monday 7 September 2026
  • Awards ceremony - Wednesday 16 September 2026

Complete the online form to make a nomination. You can only nominate for one award per form.

You will need:

  • Your contact details
  • Nominee contact details
  • A photo of the nominee to upload (jpg format preferred, maximum file size 5MB)

Adding your evidence

You will need to answer each award criteria to demonstrate how the nominee has achieved this. Add as much evidence and detail as possible.

There is no text limit, but you may wish to paste from another document to avoid losing your work if the form times out.

Saving your progress

You can save the form and return to complete it, but this must be before the closing date.

Shortlisting

Shortlisting will commence after the closing date.

If your nominee is shortlisted, the Sports Development team will be in contact with you to arrange invitations for the ceremony. 

The decision of the selection panel is final and will be based on the information provided within your nomination.

Ceremony

The awards ceremony will take place at the Wandsworth Civic Suite on Wednesday 16 September 2026.
