Postal or proxy signature waiver

A signature waiver can only be granted if the elector is unable to provide a signature, or a consistent signature, due to a disability or because they are unable to read or write.

If you require a signature waiver, you can ask someone to complete this form on your behalf, to confirm that you are not able to produce a consistent handwritten signature.

If the form is completed, a signature will not be required when you apply for a postal or proxy vote. It will also not be required if you complete a postal vote statement when you vote.

Local elections take place on Thursday 7 May 2026.

Signature waiver declaration forms must reach us by 5pm on Tuesday 21 April 2026.
