Guidance for taking household rubbish to our waste and recycling centres (tip/dumps)

Early waste collection during heatwave conditions

Due to the hot weather, waste collection will start at 5am this week (23 to 26 June) to avoid crews working in the hottest part of the day.

Please make sure your bins are out by 5am on your usual collection day - put them out the night before if easier. Report missed collections as usual, and we'll aim to collect as soon as possible.

Which centre to use

If you plan to arrive by car, motorbike, bicycle or on foot, you will need to use the Smugglers Way household waste and recycling centre

If you are coming by van, you will need to go to one of the following transfer stations:

Repairable items

Rework is a reuse workshop which accepts the following items in good cosmetic condition:

  • Home furniture
  • Large domestic appliances/white goods (it doesn’t matter if they are no longer working)
  • Bicycles
  • Sports equipment
  • Bric-a-Brac
  • Toys
  • Tools

You can drop off your items in a car at the Smugglers Way Reuse and Recycling Centre, where Rework is based.
