Northcote Road pedestrianisation

Weekend pedestrian returns to Battersea’s much-loved Northcote Road from 11 July 2026 for eight weeks, transforming the area into a vibrant summer destination for meeting friends, al fresco dining and discovering local shops.

Background

The scheme first ran during the summers of 2020 and 2021 to support local businesses and economic recovery during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pedestrianisation was particularly popular with residents and businesses located in Northcote Road.

What to expect

Every weekend from Saturday 11 July until Sunday 30 August, the area will become a pedestrian-friendly space, with restaurants and cafés using the street space for seating.

The first weekend of pedestrianisation will begin with a celebration of summer, as the Northcote Road Summer Festival is due to take place on Sunday 12 July.

The initiative is designed to bring the community together and will create more space for people to relax, socialise and explore the area on foot, while supporting local independent businesses and a thriving high street.
