The park’s development comes through an innovative partnership between the Council, South West London and St. George’s Mental Health NHS Trust and the wider Springfield Village partners.
Wandsworth Council has been committed to maintaining public spaces and Springfield Park is a big part of this. The development of the park will eventually see an exciting mix of a pavilion café, amphitheatre, gardens, children's playgrounds, ponds, a new footbridge and a youth shelter. There will also be areas for sports activities that are accessible to all.
Residents can look forward to a new park that is fully open to the public whilst being delivered and maintained without additional financial support from the council. This will come at no cost to taxpayers.
A formal opening for the park is planned for spring 2025 in line with Wandsworth Borough of Culture celebrations.
Wandsworth Council's cabinet member for environment, Judi Gasser, said: “This is a beautiful new park, already being enjoyed by lots of local people and I'm looking forward to all the exciting new developments such as the pavilion cafe, the amphitheatre, and sports activities which will be accessible to all. This is a wonderful new asset to our borough.’
