Wandsworth communities invited to help shape future of the River Wandle

The project sees Wandsworth Council receive investment from the Mayor of London and work alongside the London Boroughs of Croydon, Sutton and Merton, the National Trust, South East Rivers Trust, LIVING PROOF, the Wandle Valley Regional Park Trust, the Wandle Valley Forum, and the Environment Agency to enhance the Wandle Trail and improve access to and along the River Wandle and its connected green spaces.

At the heart of the project will be a programme of community engagement, giving residents, local communities the chance to help shape the future of the Wandle Valley for everyone to enjoy.

Supported by the Wandle Valley Forum, two weeks of free or low-cost activities will be taking place from 12-27 September across Wandsworth, Croydon, Sutton and Merton. The fortnight of events will provide opportunities for people to explore the area, learn more about the Wandle's heritage and wildlife, and share their views on how the area could be improved.

There will be lots of different ways to get involved, from guided walks, community audits of the trail and historic tours to litter picks, stream clearances and bike rides. For the full calendar of events across the two weeks visit the Wandle Valley Forum’s website.
