Could you represent team Wandsworth? Register your interest for the 2027 London Youth Games

With the 2026 London Youth Games season now drawn to a close and Team Wandsworth enjoying another bountiful year at Europe’s largest annual youth sports festival, the Council is now recruiting for 2027’s team as the event prepares to celebrate its 50th Anniversary year. 

Hundreds of young people from across the borough represented Wandsworth in 25 events throughout the season, competing against the capital’s best young athletes and showcasing their talent, determination and teamwork across a wide range of sports. 

This year’s standout performances included a bronze medal finish in netball, a top five finish for the U15 girls’ football team, an outstanding second-place finish for the girls’ para-swimming squad, and an impressive judo medal haul of two gold, four silver and two bronze medals. 

These achievements reflect the dedication of Wandsworth’s young athletes and the support of the coaches, volunteers, team managers, schools, clubs and families who helped make the season a success.

The London Youth Games play an important role in supporting the Wandsworth Moves Together strategy, the borough’s ambition to become London’s most active and helping to make sports and physical activity accessible to everyone. The competition gives young people the chance to stay active, build confidence and experience the benefits of being part of a team. 

As London Youth Games prepares to celebrate its landmark 50th anniversary season in 2027, Wandsworth Council is encouraging young people aged 7-17 who live or attend school in the borough to register their interest in representing Team Wandsworth. 

There will be 37 events across 20 different sports that young people can take part in for the London Youth Games including rowing, judo, wheelchair basketball, hockey, badminton, swimming and much more. 

Whether you already compete in a sports club or simply want to try something new, the London Youth Games offer a unique opportunity to develop sporting skills, meet new people and compete as part of Team Wandsworth.
