The awards are given to people who have made a significant contribution to the borough but whose efforts go unrecognised.

They are open to all Wandsworth residents who have made a positive impact in one or more areas including volunteering for a local charity or group, working to improve the environment or just keeping an eye on vulnerable members of their community.

This year there will be two special awards:

Borough of Sanctuary recognising individuals or organisations who have gone above and beyond to make Wandsworth a warm and welcoming environment for refugees and asylum seekers.

Innovative, inspirational mental health initiatives for organisations who have championed, pioneered and or delivered innovative, inspirational and successful mental health and wellbeing interventions for those experiencing mental health difficulties at any age and initiatives to prevent mental illness.

Mayor of Wandsworth Cllr Juliana Annan said: "Wandsworth is home to countless unsung heroes and we want to express our gratitude for their tireless work. The Annual Civic Awards is a testament to our commitment to building a strong, compassionate, and vibrant borough. I encourage everyone to nominate someone in their community that inspires them."

Everyone is eligible to nominate and nominations can be completed via a simple online form.

The deadline for nominations is September 8, and the winners will be presented with their awards at a gala event in November.
