NHS England have said that the Evelina Hospital in central London is their current preferred option for the new children’s cancer care centre, over St George’s.

Cllr Simon Hogg, along with the MP for Tooting, Dr Rosena Allin-Khan, first expressed their concern on this issue back in May. And now, with the NHS public consultation expected to launch soon, the Council Leader and MP have written again to Steve Barclay MP.

They have asked for an urgent meeting to share their concerns, and the views of local families on the proposed closure.

Cllr Simon Hogg said: “This decision is of vital importance to families across south England. It’s very worrying that parents of children with cancer feel they have not been sufficiently listened to in the process so far.

“We hope to see a consultation that is thorough and balanced, and will be encouraging our residents to make their voices heard.

“We will continue to represent local people in the fight to save children’s cancer care at St George’s.”
