New training provided by Wandsworth Council enables licensed venues, local businesses and hospitality staff to take the new free E-Learning course. The course will help to prevent, recognise and respond to sexual harassment, drink spiking or concerns involving vulnerable customers.

The training is tailored for staff working in pubs, bars, restaurants, clubs, cafés, hotels and other licensed premises, and can be completed online at a time that suits both staff and businesses.

This will help create safer environments across Wandsworth's vibrant evening and night-time economy. The course is suitable for all customer-facing staff, including full-time, part-time, temporary and seasonal workers.

Councillor Lynsey Hedges, the council's lead for tackling violence against women and girls (VAWG), said:

"Everyone should be able to enjoy a night out in Wandsworth without fear of harassment, harm or assault. Wandsworth has a fun and thriving night-time economy that attracts people from all over London. By working together, we can create safer places for residents and visitors to party in peace."

The course covers:

  • Understanding and recognising sexual harassment
  • Identifying the signs and risks of drink spiking
  • Responding safely and appropriately to incidents and concerns
  • Supporting vulnerable customers
  • Using the Ask for Angela scheme effectively
  • Understanding legal responsibilities and good practice standards

Hospitality staff are often on the frontline when incidents happen. This course gives them practical tools, knowledge and confidence to respond safely and support customers.

The webpage also signposts businesses to specialist support services, so venues and their teams can access guidance tailored to the challenges faced by the hospitality sector.
