A survey open to all tenants and leaseholders of council homes is asking residents what their priorities are, the ways they want to engage with housing services and the best ways to communicate with them. The survey has been extended to the 30 November to give residents more opportunity to have their say.

The new approach to engagement and participation aims to ensure residents can have a real impact shaping Housing services. This is part of the Housing Improvement and Transformation (HIT) Plan which sets how the standard of homes will be improved, covering areas including fire and electrical safety and damp and mould. Resident feedback from the survey will be used to start to help inform and shape a new Resident Engagement Strategy.

Residents who are interested in getting involved and help co-design the new approach to engagement can register their interest in attending future workshops.

The improvement plan was set up in 2025 following an inspection by the Regulator of Social Housing who said improvements were needed to make sure all the council's homes are safe and compliant with health and safety legislation and that the council needed to be more transparent and accountable.

Work will be overseen by the new HIT Board, which brings together residents, councillors and senior officers.

A new dedicated Housing Directorate will help ensure a direct line of accountability from frontline housing services through to senior council leaders, so that the real-life experiences of residents inform council decisions.

Cabinet Member for Housing Cllr Matthew Corner said: “Our tenants and leaseholders deserve homes that are safe, well maintained and managed by a service that listens and acts.

“The Housing Improvement and Transformation Plan is about making sure residents’ voices are at the centre of this work. This survey is crucial to help us focus on the issues that matter most to them. If you are a Wandsworth tenant or leaseholder, please fill out the survey today.”
