Council Leader, Simon Hogg, said: “Wandsworth is a diverse and peaceful borough. It’s more important than ever to come together and understand and respect each other’s cultures.
“It’s vital that we don’t give in to ignorance and division. There is no place for hate in Wandsworth.”
Wandsworth Council and its faith leaders meet regularly to discuss common ground, tackle local issues together and provide the opportunity to quickly resolve tensions.
The council’s Community Safety Team works with partners on the Wandsworth Community Safety Partnership to raise awareness of hate crime, provide support to victims and encourage dialogue and cooperation.
During our year as London Borough of Culture we are holding events celebrating different cultures and encouraging understanding between people of different backgrounds and faiths. Examples.
