Farzana Kousar, originally from Pakistan, who attends an ESOL Reading class said: “I was really happy to meet Wandsworth's mayor. The mayor allowed us to ask questions and answered them all thoroughly. We took a group photo and snapped selfies with the mayor.”

The Mayor said: “I really enjoyed meeting adult learners at the centre. It is essential for the council to be supporting learners of all ages and backgrounds, providing access to essential education and training, and promoting a culture of lifelong learning. I would encourage adult learners in Wandsworth to find out how the service might be able to help you.’

The council’s Lifelong Learning service gives adults the opportunity to continue learning and developing the skills for both work and life.

In the past year more than 2,000 adults enrolled on wide range of courses. The service also offers apprenticeships, connects young people and adults to employers through work experience and commissions providers in other parts of the borough to ensure there is good access to adult learning across multiple sites in Wandsworth.
