The Brunch was the first of a series of engagement opportunities, including events and online surveys over the next six months to give residents and businesses a chance to share their ideas, experiences and aspirations for Balham.

We want to know what you love about Balham, as well as what could be better, to understand what further changes would make the most difference to you, and so we can apply what we’ve learnt to other town centres in the borough.

At Saturday’s brunch guests enjoyed food, took part in interactive mapping activities, and engaged directly with Council Leader Simon Hogg, local councillors and council officers.

Participants contributed to a series of live polls covering key themes. Many residents expressed appreciation for recent improvements such as enhanced lighting under the railway bridge, increased CCTV coverage and more frequent street cleaning, while also highlighting areas they would like to see improved further including desires for more accessible green spaces.

Simon Hogg, said: “It was fantastic to see so many people at the Balham Brunch and to hear their honest and insightful thoughts about an area for which they clearly have a great deal of affection and pride. All the comments will help us make Balham and other town centres even better.” If you missed the Balham Brunch, you can still have your say.
