The proposed new design

The changes are part of work to make streets healthier and safer as well as making them better for local people and businesses. Changes would include pedestrianising the street from Tooting High Street to Blakenham Road, as well as more greenery, space for outdoor market stalls and a community space with tables and chairs.

Views will initially feed into a temporary design this summer to test ideas before a permanent solution is considered.

Jenny Yates, cabinet member for Transport, said: “We want to create streets that are safe for people to walk or cycle on, as well as building spaces that whole communities can enjoy. Please let us know what you think of our proposals for Totterdown Street so we can ensure that the views of local people are taken into account.”
