The Index measures how effectively councils deliver outcomes per pound spent across major service areas. Wandsworth’s strong performance demonstrates that are residents are receiving some of the best value for money in the country.

The result builds on positive results, including good ratings for both Children’s Services from Ofsted and Adult Social Care Services from the Care Quality Commission.

Wandsworth also delivers value for money with millions of pounds saved through better contracts, smarter staffing and using £230 million of funding collected from property developers for improvements across the borough at no added cost to taxpayers.

Simon Hogg, Leader of Wandsworth Council, said: “We are proud to be recognised nationally as one of the most productive councils in the country.

“This means residents can be confident that value for money is at the heart of everything we do, while still delivering high quality services. We have achieved this with the lowest Council Tax in the country, all while continuing to invest in the things that matter most to you.”

The independent review assesses how effectively councils deliver outcomes for residents based on spending across seven major service areas. These include children’s social care, adult social care, special educational needs and disabilities, housing, homelessness, and waste and recycling.

Many of the success themes identified, from cross‑department collaboration to early intervention and digital innovation are the priorities we have built into our own services.
