Residents living in Wandsworth’s Riverside Quarter can now access bus services more easily with a new route serving their neighbourhood.

On Saturday buses on the 485 route began picking up passengers from the Riverside Quarter development which is home to thousands of residents.

The 485 travels between Wandsworth Town Centre and the southern approach to Hammersmith Bridge, via Barnes, providing a route towards Hammersmith Broadway with its Piccadilly, District, Circle and Hammersmith & City tube services. It also stops at the popular London Wetlands Centre.

Clare Fraser, Wandsworth’s Cabinet Member for Transport said: “This is good news for residents living in the Riverside Quarter who can now access a local bus service much more easily than they could before.

“This extension provides a new and useful public transport link to Wandsworth town centre, Hammersmith and other areas of Putney, including the High Street.

“We hope it will encourage more residents to make the switch to public transport and help to support our Future Streets Strategy which promotes public transport improvements and better active travel options across Wandsworth.”

Transport for London says it will closely monitor the revised route to ensure it meets the needs of Riverside Quarter residents and those living further afield. It has pledged to “keep these changes under review to ensure we continue to offer the best service we can.”
