We’re pro-growth: Wandsworth Council meets with developers in renewed focus on building new homes

Wandsworth Council brought together developers, investors and regeneration partners last week for positive discussions aimed at building constructive relationships and supporting the delivery of new homes, jobs and investment across the borough.

This initial session focused on housing delivery, including affordable housing, economic growth, place-making, planning and regeneration in the borough. Further developer forums will follow as part of the council's work to proactively foster a network of organisations and opportunities for Wandsworth.
The council is giving a clear signal that we want to work collaboratively with the private sector to help bring forward new development while ensuring schemes deliver what local communities need.
'Our door is open'
Cllr Matthew Corner, Cabinet Member for Housing said: “Wandsworth needs more homes, including affordable homes, and we can only deliver them by working positively with developers, investors and partners who share our ambition for growth.
“Our door is open and we want to have constructive conversations about how we can unlock housing delivery, create thriving neighbourhoods and ensure investment brings benefits for all our residents.”
There remain significant growth opportunities across the borough, for example in Clapham Junction, Battersea and Nine Elms, and we want to work with partners to realise them.
The council is working to shape a refreshed approach to housing delivery, regeneration and economic growth in the months ahead, with a pro-growth agenda whilst also working with partners to address infrastructure and viability challenges.
