Councillor Daniel Hamilton, Cabinet Member for Transport, visited the station this week to see how the project is progressing.
He was joined by project managers and representatives from Network Rail and South Western Railway to discuss the upgrade and see the work first hand.
The £20m upgrade programme is being delivered by Network Rail. Funded by Wandsworth Council and the Department for Transport’s Access for All scheme, the project involves installing lifts to all four platforms and creating a new second entrance on the other side of the station at Odyssey Way.
Foundations for the new lifts are being installed until November 2026, with the lift shafts scheduled for installation in February 2027.
The second entrance will be opened along with the new lift access next summer (2027).
The council has provided funding towards the station improvements using contributions the council has collected from local developments.
