Connect to Work is a voluntary programme to help people with disabilities, health conditions and other barriers to get back into employment and keep their job.

It is funded by the Government as part of “Get Britain Working”, managed in Central London by Central London Forward and in Wandsworth will be delivered by Wandsworth Work Match.

The service is offered alongside Work Match’s existing offer, which matches up local people with Wandsworth-based jobs.

Residents and businesses can sign up for Work Match for free, getting people back into work and filling vacancies. Recently Work Match ran the Employ Wandsworth event in Roehampton where job seekers could meet potential employers face-to-face.

Connect to Work offers specialist one-to-one support including:

  • Vocational profiling and personalised action plan
  • Help with CVs and interview preparation
  • Access to a wide range of employers
  • Travel planning
  • Ongoing in-work support

A dedicated Connect to Work team within Work Match have been given special training to work  closely with local front-line health services, the council’s social care team and other partners.

Deputy Council Leader Kemi Akinola said: “We are lucky in Wandsworth to already have our extremely knowledgeable and successful jobs brokerage Wandsworth Work Match which is ideally placed to offer this tailored support.

“It’s our priority to make sure everyone in Wandsworth can reach their full potential and this scheme targets help to those who need it most. It is completely voluntary, but we hope as many people as possible take advantage of the help on offer.”
