Two free bulky waste collections for every household renews for another year

Everyone's bulky waste allowance has now been renewed for the year ahead, offering an easy and convenient way to dispose of large unwanted items such as a mattress, washing machine or furniture.

The free service saves households £48 per year and has earned an average rating of 4.8 out of 5 in a recent survey, commended for its ease of use, simple booking process and offering a welcome alternative to a lengthy trip to the tip.

Each free collection can be for up to four items or 12 sacks of waste, meaning there’s no need to let clutter build up at home.

Paul White, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “The fact we have now surpassed 25,000 bookings for our free bulky waste collection service shows just how valued it is by our residents.

“It’s a practical, free and environmentally responsible way to get rid of large items, and we’re proud to offer it as part of our Cleaner Borough Plan.

“The Cleaner Borough Plan reflects our commitment to listening to residents and delivering the best waste services we can, improving people’s lives while maintaining the lowest Council Tax in the country.”

The bulky waste collection offer was launched alongside Wandsworth’s 7 rings, 7 days guarantee.

The 7 rings guarantee means calls to the dedicated 020 8871 6000 number will be answered by a member of staff within 7 rings. A new email address of hello@wandsworth.gov.uk is also available for residents to get in touch.

Good customer service must also be paired with swift action to resolve the issues raised. We’ve added more services to our 7 days guarantee to give you pride in your street. If a resident reports graffiti, a broken street sign, a dangerous pothole, a faulty street light, fly-posting, or a hazardous broken pavement, it will be fixed within 7 days.
