Playground revamp complete at Battersea’s Shillington Park

Battersea’s Shillington Park now boasts a new-look junior and toddler playground and outdoor gym.

The revamped playground offers younger children brand new play equipment including swings, a roundabout, multiplay activity tower, village shop playhouse and junior exercise trail.

Adults and older children can also use an upgraded outdoor gym with new air walker, cross trainer, back and abs bench, resistant training poles and step boxes.

The new equipment was chosen by local people as part of a public consultation which offered three different layout and equipment choices. The final design took all comments into account and resulted in some additional equipment being added to the most popular design.

Judi Gasser, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “This is really good news for residents and families in this part of Battersea.

“This exciting new-look playground should prove popular with younger children while adults can keep fit and healthy by exercising on the upgraded outdoor gym equipment.

“We’d like to thank everyone who took part in the consultation for helping us choose the final design. Having listened carefully to what local people wanted we were able to come up with a really good outcome here.”
