About Clement Richard Attlee (1883 – 1967) - Green Plaque site

First Earl Attlee was a Labour Party Leader between 1935 and 1955. He also served as Deputy Prime Minister from 1942 to 1945, and as Prime Minister from 1945 to 1951.

Born at 18 Portinscale Road, Putney where he lived until he was a young man. He presided over major social reforms including a nationalisation programme and National Health Service.
