About Creative Wandsworth

Creative Wandsworth is a Local Cultural Education Partnership (LCEP). This is a group of organisations that work together to increase access to arts, culture and creativity for young people. There are many LCEPs across the UK.

Background

Creative Wandsworth began in 2018 and evolved through joint work on a creative education programme called Cultivate led by the Arts service. Creative Wandsworth is funded by A New Direction, Arts Council England’s London Bridge Organisation for Culture and Young People.

What we do

We empower local young people to inform and shape creative activity in their area - to work together with cultural organisations, schools, youth services and other local partners to deliver projects and activities that can inform strategic outcomes for young people of all ages.

We champion creative youth voice to inform and shape creative activity in the borough, aiming to empower young creatives and give them the means to help develop and set the cultural agenda.

We pilot creative projects chosen and informed by young people and will support the young people involved through, for example, work-related learning and creative careers opportunities.

We actively encourage opportunities for performance and producing through for example, Wandsworth Arts Fringe Festival - and will support young creatives to access funding opportunities available to them, guiding and mentoring them to realise creative project proposals.

We work closely with schools to provide regular teacher networking & CPD opportunities as well as supporting schools in an ongoing capacity to encourage a creative curriculum across all subject areas.

Get involved

What does the Wandsworth LCEP do?

We provide a quarterly forum for members to work together to achieve joint aims which provide creative opportunities for young people.

We work in partnership with Children’s Services and the Wandsworth Schools Team to identify areas of need and provide Teacher Networking and CPD opportunities.

We deliver and commission creative projects and workshops for Wandsworth Schools and provide and promote performance opportunities for young people in Wandsworth

We promote and support Artsmark and champion creativity and cultural capital across all areas of the curriculum.

We act as a broker between schools and creative organisations to encourage new activity and relationships, especially locally.
