You are required by law to have your work inspected to ensure that it complies with the minimum standard of the building regulations.
You must tell us 24 hours before the following stages of the work.
- Commencement of work
- Foundation excavations
- Completed foundations
- Damp proof course and membrane
- Site concrete or floor slab (before being laid)
- Drainage systems
- Completion of work
We will ensure that work covered by the building regulations is carried out to a reasonable standard and that suitable materials are used. The amount of inspections required will depend on the work being carried out.
Visits can be;
- arranged on the same day but it is advisable to contact us before 10am that day.
- made before 9am and after 5pm on weekdays, and in special circumstances at weekends.
To arrange a site visit you should call the Building Control officer directly. The phone number is on the acknowledgement letter you were sent when your application was submitted.
If you have mislaid your letter please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Work on site does not need to be strictly as shown on the approved plans. Minor changes can be agreed with the building control officer as the work proceeds as long as the finished work complies with the building regulations. However, if major changes are needed it may be necessary to submit a fresh full plans application.
If you make a full plans application, we will send you an account for the inspection charge after the first site inspection has been made. We will submit the bill for the charges within seven days.
