Join us for a Wayfinding Walkabout

We want to improve signage and navigation around the Alton Estate and we invite you to join us for a Wayfinding Walkabout to share your knowledge and ideas.

We will be walking two routes on Tuesday 13 May 2025. The starting location is outside Roehampton Library on Danebury Avenue.

We will be departing at 11.30am for a relaxed walk through the west side of the neighbourhood. In the afternoon, at 4pm, we will explore the eastern areas of the neighbourhood.

Each route is expected to take about 90 minutes in total. When we have finished walking each route, we will retire to Cafe Joy, where we can all enjoy coffee and cake!

Why join us?

  • We would like you to help us improve signage and navigation through the estate
  • You will be able to speak to our Safer Neighbourhood team
  • Come along and share your local knowledge
  • Meet your fellow residents
  • Get your bikes marked with a unique code to keep them safe
  • Enjoy a free coffee and cake at the end!

If you would like to come, you can simply meet us outside Roehampton Library at your preferred time. If you are able to let us know that you will be coming, please email the High Streets Team on highstreetsteam@wandsworth.gov.uk.

Alton residents invited to get moving from Couch to 5K

Residents of the Alton Estate in Roehampton are being encouraged to take their first steps towards fitness by joining the NHS Couch to 5K initiative.

This free and accessible programme is designed to help beginners gradually build up their running ability, making it a great way to improve health and wellbeing.

Taking part is easy – simply download the Couch to 5K app and let us know you’re getting involved by calling 07903 927479 or emailing bugbearworkshops@gmail.com. Participants who sign up will receive additional support to stay motivated and on track throughout their journey.

This initiative is part of Wandsworth Moves Together, the council’s leisure strategy, which is committed to creating estate-based physical activity programmes that deliver affordable and accessible opportunities for residents. The Alton Estate pilot is the first of many initiatives aimed at making it easier for people to lead active and healthy lives.
