Rehousing options for current tenants
Find out what options there are to move from your council home to another property or area.
Housing association tenants
If you are a housing association tenant, some of these rehousing options may be available to you.
You should also ask your landlord what other rehousing options, outside of our housing register, you should consider.
Risk or threat of violence
If you are not safe at home due to a risk or threat of violence, you can apply for help. This could be a management transfer, a homelessness application or help from another scheme.
See rehousing options because of abuse, violence or harassment.
Housing transfer
If you are an existing council tenant, you can apply for a transfer to a different council property.
We cannot provide a housing transfer for everyone, and even high priority applicants may have to wait several years before a property becomes available.

Swap your home
It may be possible to swap your council home with another council or housing association tenant.
Downsizing
We have a downsizing scheme for council tenants who want to move to a smaller home. Downsizing your council home.
