Request for Information - WBC-FOI-00867 - Asylum Accommodation

I refer to your request for information received on 23 February 2023. Please see the information below in response to your request: -

QUESTION 1: How many people, currently (Feb 2023) awaiting asylum, are being housed in contingency accommodation in your district?

11 housed in temporary accommodation as at 02/03/2023.

QUESTION 2: How many people awaiting asylum were housed in contingency accommodation in your district in March 2020?

Fewer than 5 housed in temporary accommodation between 1st April 2019 to 31st March 2020.

You will notice that the phrase 'fewer than 5' has been used in lieu of some exact figures above. This is because Wandsworth Council considers that disclosure of very low numbers of individuals would enable the identification of a living individual from that information, or, from the information and other data in the possession of, or likely to come into the possession of, a data controller. Disclosure of the requested information would result in a breach of one or more of the principles of the GDPR/DPA 2018 and the information is therefore exempt in accordance with Section 40(2) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

I hope this information meets your needs. If you do not understand the information provided or wish to discuss anything further, please feel free to contact us.
