Subject: Zoning plans

Reference: WBC-FOI-00758

I would like to make an FoI request regarding any possible council zoing plans.

My FoI request is: Does Wandsworth Council have any plans, or is it considering proposals, to introduce zones as part of the '15 minute city' strategy being pursued by other councils, including Oxford, Ealing and Fulham and Hammersmith Councils? What plans are being considered? If so, does the council have plans to carry out a public consultation on these proposals and when will this be carried out?

Your Request:

Does Wandsworth Council have any plans, or is it considering proposals, to introduce zones as part of the '15 minute city' strategy being pursued by other councils, including Oxford, Ealing and Fulham and Hammersmith Councils? What plans are being considered? If so, does the council have plans to carry out a public consultation on these proposals and when will this be carried out?

Our Response:

No. The 15-minute city does not introduce 'zones' nor restrict movement of residents. The 15-minute city is an urban planning concept which proposes that all residents have access to essential services (such as food, health, education etc.) within a 15-minute walk or cycle ride. The Wandsworth Local Plan applies the 15-minute city concept to allow for a more sustainable, fairer and greener way of living.
