Request for Information - WBC-FOI-00637 - Towing vehicles

I refer to your request for information received on 01 February 2023. Please see the information below in response to your request: -

1. How many cars and all other types of vehicle have been towed by yourselves in the past 6 months in Wandsworth Borough?

In the period 01/08/22 - 31/01/23:

787 vehicles were lifted and relocated to another parking bay.

36 vehicles were lifted and removed to the car pound.

2. How much revenue has been made by means of the removal of cars and all other types of vehicle in the Borough in the past 6 months?

The revenue for removal fees for the period of 01/08/22 - 31/01/23 total £3,600.

3. How is the money split between Wandsworth and NSL?

The revenue is not split. Wandsworth Council receive the revenue. NSL have set fees within the contract for each relocation and removal to the car pound as other staffing and overhead costs.

4. How long Wandsworth has been in partnership with NSL?

The removal contract has been in place with NSL since 26/01/2015.

5. What language your pcns are written in?

English.

6. What language you are corresponding in?

English.

7. Which law is it that permits you to sell/pass on details of the public to private companies such as Marstons?

A County Court order will grant the Council a warrant to be issued and an Enforcement Agency will be asked to recover the debt. Following progression of an unpaid penalty charge, the Council has will register the PCN as a debt with the Traffic Enforcement Centre (TEC) at the County Court. The TEC will authorise the Council to issue a warrant of control to an EA to recover the outstanding debt.
