Car clubs

A car club is a membership scheme that offers people use of a car on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Benefits

These schemes can save you the additional costs and inconvenience of owning or using your own car, and mean that you have easy access to a car for those occasional journeys when you need one.

The charity CoMoUK has published evidence on the benefits of using a car club.

Operators and locations

Enterprise Carclub, Co-wheels and Hiyacar use on-street car club bay locations in the borough. Some car club bays are vacant following the withdrawal of the operator Zipcar, and we are working with other car clubs to fill these spaces where possible. More details are in a paper to the Transport Overview and Scrutiny Committee in February 2026.
