Meet the Buyer event November 2023

We delivered this live event on Tuesday 14 November in partnership with Tooting Works and business support organisation Branduin. It gave local suppliers a chance to showcase their business offer, bringing them together in the same room with invested public and private sector buyers to discuss future contract opportunities in 2024/25.

SMEs and third sector organisations across Wandsworth and beyond were given individual five minute slots with dedicated buyers to discuss, share knowledge and gather practical tips on becoming organisational approved suppliers.

Thank you to all buyers who attended, including:

  • U.S Embassy
  • Galliard Homes
  • South Thames College Group
  • Roehampton University
  • Battersea Power Station
  • Wandsworth’s Adult Social Care and Public Health team

Attendees enjoyed the catering skills of local catering firm Food by Toby who crafted delicious cold and hot bites and deserts for the event.

Buyers Breakfast October 2023

In partnership with Wandsworth Chamber of Commerce we held our second Buyers Breakfast event on 31 October 2023, at Audley Villages, Clapham. It was attended by a variety of public/private sector stakeholders.

Continuing our efforts to engage and influence tier one buyers within the Borough, this was a morning stakeholder meeting focusing on public/private sector partnerships and ways to effectively strengthen these to deliver on a localised procurement strategy which benefits people and communities whilst bringing social, environmental, and economical value.

Our invited guest speakers were Caroline Wilson, Corporate Director of Community Wealth Building at the London Borough of Islington, and Fisayo Roberts, Head of Procurement at Arsenal FC. They discussed and shared details of the Islington Anchor Institution Network and how this was designed, developed, delivered and embedded.

This new network of major Islington employers and key organisations has come together under a shared commitment to reduce inequalities and help build a thriving local economy.

It has nine founding members, which play major roles in the local economy, employing more than 22,000 people, and acting as purchasers, landlords, and strategic leaders. The goal is to use their collective influence to help shape the borough’s future.

The nine members are:

  • Angel Business Improvement District
  • Arsenal Football Club
  • Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust
  • Capital City College Group
  • City, University of London
  • Islington Council
  • London Metropolitan University
  • Peabody Trust
  • Whittington Health NHS Trust

Each organisation has formally signed up to a number of progressive pledges, including generating more opportunities and wealth for local people and businesses, and working towards shared net zero carbon objectives. This was an opportunity to showcase best practice as a living example.
