Metro – blind sport

DescriptionMetro is a London based sports and social club for blind and partially sighted people of all ages. The club’s members include many of the UK’s top international sports men and women, but it is also there for those who are new to sport or who want to enjoy less competitive activities.

The club aims to open doors to sport for all visually impaired people, to encourage members to come together and enjoy social activities and to work with national and international bodies to increase opportunities.

The main sports organised by Metro Blind Sport include athletics, bowls, cricket and tennis. Metro engages professional coaches and takes part in well established competitions across the UK. The club also supports members to take part in other sports including football, sailing, skiing and tandem cycling. Metro subsidises the costs of entry fees, kit and travel. The club is also very social, and organises a programme of social activities such as theatre trips, ice skating and pub nights, as well as sports-related social opportunities.
