PostcodeSE1 3UB
DescriptionBlindAid is a charity providing support to blind and partially sighted people in Wandsworth and the other 11 inner London Boroughs. The main support they offer is a home visiting service, but they also provide an early support service in some London eye clinics as well as a telephone befriending support service. All services are provided free of charge and home visitors have Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks (previously this was the Criminal Records Bureau, or CRB).

A home visitor may help with many things, including:

- Offering company and conversation in a friendly regular visit
- Reading and writing correspondence
- Providing information about local social groups, activities and events
- Arranging the loan of a radio/CD player through the British Wireless for the Blind (subject to their criteria)

BlindAid also provide long term loans of radio/audio equipment and help for people on low incomes, including a benefits advice service and grants to support independent living. For example, a grant could be used for equipment or gadgets, computer equipment or screen-reading software, and domestic items.
