Older Persons Freedom Pass

This pass gives you free travel on a variety of public transport and other services.


You must:

  • Be a Wandsworth resident (your principle residence must be in Wandsworth)
  • Meet the age criteria. Enter your birthday in the eligibility checker to see if you are eligible for a Freedom Pass

  • Transport for London buses
  • Tube
  • Docklands Light Railway
  • Trams, and
  • London Overground

The pass is accepted 24 hours a day.

Other local buses

In the London area (not part of Transport for London)

  • Monday to Friday: 9.30am and 11pm
  • Weekends: all day
  • Public holidays.

Some bus operators may accept travel at other times. Check with the relevant bus company.

National Rail (not including London Overground)

On most local rail services (excluding first class)

  • Monday to Friday: 9.30am and 4.30am (from 9am on some routes)
  • Weekends: all day
  • Public holidays.

Renewing your pass

The Older Person’s Freedom Pass scheme is managed by London Councils. Visit the London Council’s Freedom Pass website or contact them by telephone on 0300 330 1433 to find out how to renew your pass.
