Wandsworth celebrates the Jubilee

Celebrate the Queen’s jubilee with events and activities all over the borough during the long bank holiday weekend.

Many people will be attending street parties, but if you are not there are plenty of other ways to celebrate.  

The borough’s parks will be hosting the Big Jubilee Lunch on June 5. Take your picnic along to a specially marked out picnic area and enjoy free entertainment, including 

  • Battersea Park – contemporary bands 
  • Wandsworth Common – the New Orleans Second Line marching band 
  • Tooting Common – London-based marimba band Otto and Mutapa Calling  
  • Furzedown Rec – Rebecca Wing’s jazz band 
  • Coronation Gardens – young pianists from the World Heart Beat Music Academy and local schools

Wandsworth will also be joining thousands of other organisations and communities around the country to light Jubilee Beacons on June 2.  

Positively Putney will be running a Jubilee Beacon Day in Church Square from 2pm to 10pm on June 2, with stilt walkers, fire shows, balloon modelling and arts and crafts plus a chance to see the lighting of the beacon at 9.45pm. Find out more 

Old York Road Unplugged is back, and will be celebrating the Jubilee on June 5. Go along between 11am and 5pm for food, drink, live music and family activities. Find out more

And in Battersea enjoy the Battersea Jubilee Festival with a series of events over several days. Find out more  

Libraries will be closed on June 2 and 3, but Jubilee events will be held in branches during the rest of the half term week, including craft sessions and story times. Find out more

The Mayor of Wandsworth Cllr Jeremy Ambache said: “We would encourage everyone to go out, meet their community and enjoy themselves this long bank holiday weekend. It’s a chance to get to know your neighbours, have fun and of course celebrate Her Majesty’s long and dedicated service.”
