The hub has been set-up to co-ordinate the support being offered by the council and Wandsworth’s voluntary organisations during the Coronavirus pandemic.

It is a first response for residents, particularly those people who are elderly and/or vulnerable without support networks, who need support to access medical/care services and food supplies. It is designed to help those most in need stay safe and well while they self-isolate at home.

The hub is staffed by 40 members of staff drawn from other service areas including libraries and  electoral services. When he visited this morning, Cllr Govindia heard that staff has already dealt with more than 200 calls in just over 24 hours.

“It was fantastic to see our staff dealing with people in such a calm and professional manner, easing callers’ fears and helping them with their queries. I can also confirm they are observing the rules on social distancing.

“I’d like to reassure the people of Wandsworth that the council, together with the borough’s many volunteers and voluntary organsations, will be focussed on supporting the people in the borough who need it most.”
