Wandsworth Arts Fringe wants you!

Published: 28 September 2018

Wandsworth Council’s Wandsworth Arts Fringe (WAF) is celebrating its tenth anniversary in May 2019.

Local people are being urged to make WAF 2019 as spectacular as possible and organisers are looking for artists, potential venues, schools, and local businesses who want to get involved.

WAF is the perfect opportunity to showcase your talent. More than 700 artists took part in #WAF2018, and 98 per cent of audiences rated their WAF experience either excellent or good.

The festival prides itself on being a testing ground for bold, experimental work that is both hyper local and astonishingly international. WAF attracting artists from all over the UK and the world, as well as from down the street.

2018 saw performers and exhibitors from as far afield as Malaysia, India, Canada, Australia, Ethiopia and Japan. It drew more than 20,000 visitors to over 180 events across the borough, from street performances to big art picnics, comedy to circus, odd-bod opera, dance, debates, and everything in between.

For the ten-year anniversary, WAF is encouraging you to go big. Whatever kind of creative practitioner you are, if you want to test new ground, connect with creative networks and be part of something that thrills, moves and inspires audiences from across the city, organisers want to hear from you

Local primary and secondary school are also being urged to get involved in a range of arts and cultural projects across the borough.

The council's culture spokesman Cllr Steffi Sutters said: “We’re very proud of the Wandsworth Arts Fringe. It reflects our borough’s energy and diversity, brings in visitors and shows the breadth of artistic talent we have here. I’m really looking forward to the tenth anniversary, and I’d encourage anyone who wants to take part to get in touch.”
