Get ready for the Wandsworth Arts Fringe

Published: 26 April 2017

The eight annual Wandsworth Arts Fringe starts next Friday (May 5) with 140 shows in 65 venues across the borough.

This year’s fringe is the biggest and most varied yet, with theatre, dance, comedy, music, visual art, literary events, outdoor extravaganzas, dance circus and free shows over two weeks in May. See full details and book online.

Highlights include a rampaging herd of rhinoceros from Puppets with Guts in Heathbrook Park and free family-friendly performance Mischief Makers Metamorphosis on Roehampton Library Green.

There will be several theatrical premieres, plus family friendly theatre, and theatre for children with learning disabilities from Oily Cart.

Top-class circus entertainment includes Hoops and Loops at the Tooting Tram and Social and there will be art exhibitions from Yvette Vanson at Putney Library and Gil Mualem-Doron at Tooting Market. Multimedia visual artist Hercules Fisherman will be creating art in real time at the Doddington and Rollo Community Roof Garden.

There’s a wide range of dance and musical performances, including opera, classical, reggae and jazz, and comedy will include a series of nights of female comedy, Femmes by the Thames.

Wandsworth Arts Fringe is bought to you by Wandsworth Council, supporting the arts and culture industries across the borough. The festival is funded by Wandsworth Council with generous contributions from Arts Council England, Greenland and Southside Shopping Centre. Organised by Enable Leisure and Culture
