People who would like to cast their votes in the forthcoming Mayor and London Assembly elections but won’t be able to making it to their polling station on the day can still apply for a proxy vote – but the deadline to do so runs out tomorrow (Tuesday).

Anyone who wishes to apply for a proxy vote – which would allow a friend or relative to vote at the polling station on their behalf – must submit their application before 5pm tomorrow (April 26).

Residents who request this option must ensure that their proxy is able to attend their local polling station on election day – Thursday, May 5 - between 7am and 10pm.

Any person who is unexpectedly called away for work or education after tomorrow’s deadline can still apply for an emergency proxy vote, along with those who experience a medical emergency after this time.  Applications for an emergency proxy vote will need to be submitted by 5pm at the latest on May 5.

The application forms can be downloaded from the Electoral Commission’s website  A scanned copy can be sent by email to
