Thames Valley Housing will soon be welcoming the first residents into these new affordable properties which include one, two and three-bedroom apartments.
The development, which is opposite King George’s Park, proved popular with local people who have snapped-up 31 of the new shared ownership homes, leaving only two of the three-bedroom apartments still on sale.
Wandsworth Council’s housing spokesman Cllr Paul Ellis visited the development recently. He said:
“Local people have wasted no time in securing these new homes which were offered on a broad range of terms to suit residents with different levels of income. This is a very high quality development in a fantastic setting and I want to congratulate Thames Valley Housing on a job well done.
“These homes are an important contribution to the 300 or so new affordable homes we expect to deliver over the next 12 months for Wandsworth residents to buy or rent at reduced prices.”
Kush Rawal, Sales & Marketing Director at Thames Valley Housing, said:
“Since we launched Westfield House, we’ve been inundated with applications and requests from local residents who wanted to purchase a home here through shared ownership. We understand too well the affordability issues that hopeful homebuyers face, so a huge reason for the development’s success is that it has provided a great opportunity for local people who can’t afford to pay the full market price to get on the housing ladder.
“I’d like to thank Councillor Paul Ellis for visiting Westfield House today and for seeing first-hand, the high quality of the homes we’ve delivered here and are continuing to do so around London and the South East.”
Westfield House is due for completion within the next 10 weeks. The apartments are housed in two buildings set in sweeping landscaped grounds on the banks of the River Wandle, with riverside walks and cycle paths to the 55-acre King George’s Park opposite.
About Shared Ownership
Shared ownership is a great way to get on the property ladder. Purchasers buy a share in a property and pay rent on the share they don’t own, together with the service charges. They can increase the share they own over time until they own 100% of the home. Thames Valley Housing makes this even easier by offering its unique Shared Ownership PLUS scheme, which allows owners to buy 1% more of their home each year for 15 years, without the hassle and expense of valuations, legal fees and stamp duty each time.
