Mayor of Wandsworth goes electric
Published: 14 July 2015
The Mayor of Wandsworth will be using an electric cab for some of her engagements this year.
The mayor, Cllr Nicola Nardelli, has been offered the use of a new zero-emissions Metro cab by the company Fraser-Nash. The cabs have been offered to a handful of London VIPs, including the mayor and Mayor of London Boris Johnson.
Roughly three trips a week will be made in the cab. So far, since starting her mayoral year in May, the mayor has travelled in the car to engagements including Formula E in Battersea Park and a reception at the Tower of London hosted by the Prince of Wales Regiment.
The same person has been hand-picked to drive the mayor each time, to ensure the safety of the mayor and of the mayoral regalia.
The mayor said:
“I’m delighted to have been offered the use of the cab by Fraser-Nash. During my mayoral year I am keen to be as environmentally-friendly as possible it is definitely the way of the future here in Wandsworth. It makes me very proud that I can attend some of my many engagements in a zero-emissions vehicle.”
