Council leader unveils new cabinet team

Council leader Ravi Govindia has unveiled his new cabinet line-up following a mini-reshuffle.

Battersea Cllr Rhodri Morgan joins the cabinet for the first time. The St Mary’s Park ward councillor is now in charge of the economic development portfolio, which focuses on support for businesses and job creation
Council deputy leader Kim Caddy moves from housing to finance and corporate resources. Cllr Caddy will also lead the council's work to tackle climate change.
The new cabinet member for housing is Cllr Jonathan Cook, who also retains his responsibility for community safety.
Cllr Aled Richards-Jones moves from economic development to cabinet member for communications.
Other cabinet members who will continue in their previous roles are:
Cllr Steffi Sutters – cabinet member for community services
Cllr Will Sweet - cabinet member for education and children’s services
Cllr John Locker - cabinet member for strategic planning and transportation
Cllr Clare Salier - cabinet member for adult care and health.
Other portfolio holders who remain in post are Cllr Guy Humphries, chairman of the planning applications committee and Cllr Ian Lewer, chairman of the licensing committee. Cllr Rory O’Broin is leaving cabinet and returns to the backbenches.
Cllr Govindia said: “My cabinet team is committed to serving the people of Wandsworth, delivering the best quality public services, supporting local businesses and community groups, tackling climate change and implementing our smart growth strategy to ensure the town hall gives everyone the best opportunities and advantages in life – particularly important as we move into a post-pandemic world.
“As a council we have overcome the challenges of the past year and devised new ways of supporting our community. This cabinet team will build on these achievements as we pursue our goal of making Wandsworth the best place in London to live, work and invest.
“I would also like to thank Cllr O’Broin, not only for his work on corporate finance and resources, but also for his valued and appreciated efforts in helping the council deliver its climate change commitments.”
