LGBT History Month is an annual event celebrating the history of gay rights and teaching young people about issues faced by the LGBT community today.
Wandsworth will be flying the rainbow flag at the Town Hall to show its solidary with the movement and with LGBT residents.
Library events will include children’s stories – including one read by Wandsworth Libraries’ favourite Mama G on February 16 – events, and author visits, including a chance to meet children’s author LD Lapinski on February 4. Follow @wandsworthlibs on twitter for details.
Last year Wandsworth installed the borough’s first rainbow crossing outside Battersea Town Hall.
And it has stated its commitment to equality as both an employer and provider of services and has pledged to continue working with the Wandsworth LGBT+ Forum and other groups to ensure equality remains at the heart of its work.
Leader of the council Cllr Ravi Govindia, said: “We value our relationship with the LGBT+ Forum and celebrate LGBT history and the contribution made by our LGBT residents today.”
